“Green Cotton has been around since 1986, when founder Leif Nørgaard acquired an interest in the environment and textiles before many others had even thought the thought. Throughout all these years, the company behind Green Cotton – Novotex – has received an impressive number of awards as proof of the serious work we have done to make the textile industry more environmentally friendly. Proud accomplishments include the world’s first T-shirt made of organic cotton. as well as a prize for helping to grow the first cotton ever to be certified by an independent institute. From this cotton, we made the world’s first T-shirt made of certified organic cotton, which Katharine Hamnett designed in 1991.”

Letter from the Founder: “As a parent there is no greater gift in the world than the renewed sense of discovery and wonder given to us by our children. From the moment we first meet them, the world is changed and we begin to look toward a positive future and desire to create a place where they can maintain the innocence of childhood for as long as possible. We find that there are so many distractions that encourage children to engage in an adult world, rather than protecting the important development of their imaginations and their fundamental need to play. We want to create a space for them where they can simply bloom, in their own time and in their own natural way. This overwhelming sense of protection and love has fueled a passion to design a company with these same core values.

It became important to me to create something meaningful that encouraged the whimsical nature of children and honored them by putting first their comfort, safety and interests. To try to help create this space for them in some small way, and reach out to other families who wish the same for their children. Having children made me feel as though the desire to protect this time in their lives, when anything is possible and the imaginary world feels real, was a desire that could be shared between families of all backgrounds, locations or ideals. It was something that could bring people together by celebrating the most fundamental nature of our children; their innocence…We feel fortunate to continue to pursue this dream and find more ways that we can support the families that share our dedication to a celebration of innocence.”

does exposure to magnets or magnetic fields cause people harm?

no; according to the world health organization, exposure to static magnets have not been proven to have harmful (or positive) effects on people.

what about swallowing magnets?

our magnetic fasteners are safely sewn into our garments to be inaccessible to infants or their siblings.  the magnetic fasteners have sewsafe construction, stitched into our clothes hidden between layers of fabric and would take serious tampering to remove. periodically inspect seams and fabric near magnetic fasteners. if tears, rips, or loose stitching are found, discontinue use of the product.

have magnetic me clothes been safety tested?

absolutely! our products have been independently safety tested by a consumer products safety testing bureau.

do magnetic me products contain lead?

no way! our products have been thoroughly tested and all of our products meet lead safety standards.

what about pacemakers? i heard magnets can interfere with them.

keep this garment away from pacemakers and other sensitive electronics. this product contains magnets which may interfere with the proper function of these devices.
